We are using this week to review for the Milestone. Next week they will take their Math portionof the test. If you would like to put them on i-ready or ixl this week that will be fine. (No homework assigned.)

On-level has started Elapsed time. Ask your child questions like if we are starting dinner at this time and finish at this time how long have we been cooking?
Advanced- LONG DIVISION... This is a pretty challenging task so please be patient. There is a great studyjams as well.

Now that ITBS testing is over both groups will begin taking their test on Wednesday. On-level is all about multiplication and division. There is a great study jam if you are feeling like they need extra support.
Advanced test will be over fractions. There is also a great study jam on equivalent fractions.
Both groups are more then prepared for these units.

Multiplication facts: I suggest going to the dollar store and grabbing some flashcards. Practice these as much as possible.
Fractions: Next week we will work on ordering fractions from least to greatest.

Today measurement was introduced and we measured to the nearest 1/4 inch. It might be a good idea to get a ruler at home and have them practice how to measure to the nearest 1/4 inch. There is also a wonderful video on studyjams about measurement.
Advanced: Perimenter (the measure AROUND an object) and Area (the square units of meausure INSIDE an object). Again there is another cool video on StudyJams

We are finishing the unit up on rounding. While in the car with your students ask them questions about what number they would round to. For example, "Round 337 to the nearest tens." We also started xtramath today and the students will graph this data. Xtramath is a fluency building website. It starts with addition. Check it out.
